Happy Tuesday Everyone!
Let me start with a hilarious disclaimer:
My husband is my photographer. Is he an actual photographer? Like, is that his career? NO. However, I appreciate the time he has taken to get to know his camera, and the patience he has with me when I attempt to be a model for these photos. That being said, when we were going through the pictures for this post I just could not get over the fact that my shoes didn’t make the cut! SAY WHAAATTTT??!! I’m a shoe girl! Anyway, the way my patience is set up right now… Y’all are just gonna have to take my word for it that they are FIRE. hahaha.
As for this DIY Bell Sleeve dress.
This is McCalls pattern 7505, and is a Nicole Miller design.
I am in love. Already working on number two. The sleeves are dramatic, and take away from my huuuuuuge belly. The A-Line shape also helps me feel less like a whale. LOL.
The dress came together really quickly although for my next version I think I will play with the finishes a little bit. I want to try a bias bound neckline versus a facing, and a rouleau loop closure at the back.
The fabric is a mid-weight “something” from The Loft. I can tell you it’s a cotton blend and has a good amount of stretch to it. I figure the A-Line will become less forgiving in the next few weeks, so I can grow into this dress since it has some give.
The bell sleeve is super trendy this spring, and I’ve seen it a lot in the sewing community which is a great thing! Usually, pattern companies are world’s behind the trend. Kudos to McCalls for being so current!
What trends are you planning to sew up this spring?
