DIY Trumpet Skirt

Hey Dolls!

It’s been a while! I have a quick little look for you that I whipped up a while back, and never got around to posting. I have been so busy with baby finally turning one (it seems like yesterday I was waddling around here miserably huge!), and all of our “life” shenanigans that love to take up our time.

I have a lot of awesome looks coming up, so stay tuned! I’m so excited to get them out to you all.

This trumpet skirt is unique in that the actual flounce is asymmetrical. The asymmetrical look is all over runways, street wear, and in every silhouette imaginable right now. I am also head over heels for this amazing hunter green (with a hint of blue) fabric. It acted like a pop of color to my all black outfit, but the jewel tone made it feel like a Fall neutral.

I used Vogue pattern 1451 a Donna Karan design. I also found the actual RTW skirt, but it is sold out. skirt

One of my coworkers recently said to me, “I love that you can see something, and then make it for yourself. No finding the designer, no worrying about the fit, you do it all for you, by you.” Of course I replied with, “FUBU.” LOL!! I don’t ever think of it like that, but she had a great point. I love that I have been blessed with this talent.

b3I hope you all have a wonderful weekend! We are finally home for a couple weekends so I can get some work done!
