DIY Bohemian Dress Vogue 9253

Hello Everyone!

My first post with no belly..

Well, no pregnant belly haha!

I have been sewing a lot for my nursing wardrobe, and today I am sharing with you a super easy bohemian dress vogue 9253. The McCalls company is hosting a challenge for this dress, so there are a ton of different versions out there on the inter webs right now for your viewing pleasure!

I thought I’d join in on the fun since this pattern was in my queue. It is a simple sew, which is a relief since most Vogue patterns are not for the faint of heart. There are only 6 pattern pieces!

I used a bohemian navy and off white Rayon Challis from Fabric.com. I like ordering from them because they offer free returns. Not many online fabric shops have this perk, and I need the freedom to change my mind, or send something back if it isn’t what I thought it was.

My previous post was pretty lengthy, so I will keep this short and sweet.

Overall, the dress looked like the pattern envelope when I was done, but I probably won’t make it again. I’m not too fond of the plunging neckline for every day wear so I will wear this with a cami under when I do wear it out. The midi cut with the flow arms and (almost) empire waist just does not flatter my body type.. So, I will wear it, just won’t be adding another to my wardrobe!

Have you made this dress? What are your thoughts?

  1. So funny that you made this dress. There has been a lot of chatter on the McCall’s site about it. When the pattern was first introduced, I though it was a bathrobe. LOL!! Then people started making it in ALL sizes and variations. The only one I liked was a lady that put gossets(sp) down the front and laced a drawstring up the front.

  2. It is a really distinctive dress pattern but I love your version of it. I can understand why you’d want to wear a camisole with it for daily wear and I know it matters what the wearer thinks but I like this silhouette on you.
